SCC Nexus · Environment
A provenance-led evidence system for current monitoring, historical reconstruction and transparent external scrutiny.
Latest reviewed release
Release window: 21 September–20 October 2026. The live observatory reported 141 stations, 9/9 English regions and 9,746 valid pollutant-day observations. These are dated release values, not permanent site totals.
Reporting in the reviewed 30-day product.
English regions represented.
Valid pollutant-day observations.
Current nationwide assessment can be unavailable when freshness/coverage gates are not met. SCC Air Quality fails closed rather than treating missing data as clean air.
Evidence architecture
The system is designed to preserve provider semantics and provenance while keeping monitoring, modelling, regulation and health literature in their correct evidential roles.
Current
Immutable source responses, canonical observations, station identity, freshness/completeness gates and deterministic 30-day review products.
Historical
A ten-complete-year first target using provider-native acquisition, immutable raw payloads, SHA-256 receipts, monthly canonical partitions and explicit gap/revision ledgers.
Reference evidence
Official 2025 compliance reports, NPL particle-network science, emissions inventories and peer-reviewed research are catalogued separately from observed ambient measurements.
Scrutiny
Every headline output should resolve to a versioned data artefact, method version, source receipt and release identifier.
Reporting programme
Daily evidence status; weekly 30-day England review; monthly data-quality and trends; quarterly evidence synthesis; and an annual SCC Air Quality Yearbook.
Each product should include coverage, data quality, exclusions, source health, method/version changes, historical comparisons and an SCC/VVIP assurance appendix.
Claim boundary
SCC Air Quality does not use automated monitoring to establish causation, source attribution, personal exposure, health harm, permit breach or legal non-compliance. Satellite/model evidence, emissions inventories, traffic and health literature remain contextual unless a reviewed method explicitly supports a narrower claim.
