UK Environmental Intelligence Catalogue
The environmental catalogue builds a reusable, auditable inventory of UK environmental data sources. It supports SCC Air Quality and other investigations without treating inclusion in a directory as proof of data quality.
Catalogue architecture
Discover, record, validate.
The public GitHub repository documents Python tools, a versioned SQLite catalogue, deterministic source records, provenance hashes and resource-level validation.
It includes opt-in discovery of official CKAN and ArcGIS sources, metadata completeness checks and bounded reachability and licensing reviews. Candidate records are not automatically promoted to verified.
- Environmental and air-quality source discovery.
- Publisher metadata, licence, format, coverage and source lineage.
- Append-only validation history and explicit candidate/degraded/retired states.
Related research
Linked to Air Quality, not the same thing.
SCC Air Quality is the topic-specific research and monitoring programme; the environmental catalogue is a broader reusable source-inventory and validation component.
Automated clustering or AI enrichment, where configured, remains advisory and cannot upgrade a source's evidence status without validation. The catalogue README explicitly declines comprehensive-coverage claims.

Current state and validation
Project identity and associated repositories were checked on 24 October 2026. A repository or document's existence does not establish that its public website, latest build, pipelines or scientific conclusions have been validated. Claims and illustrative material remain subject to project-specific review.
